Carl J. Stone

I’m a microbial evolution researcher finishing my PhD at Vanderbilt University. I work at the intersection of experimental microbiology and quantitative data analysis — building Bayesian statistical models and genome-scale omics pipelines to understand how bacteria adapt, survive, and evolve.

My dissertation produced two first-author publications and an R package (commaKit) pending Bioconductor submission. I build the tools my science needs when they don’t exist yet.

I’m graduating in May 2026 and seeking postdoc or scientist positions in computational microbiology. Learn more about my work or view my CV.
